TCT & Cermet Cold Saw Blades: Series Selection, Cutting Life and Technical Support

Choosing the right TCT or Cermet cold saw blade involves more than selecting a diameter and tooth count. The cutting material, production speed, required surface finish, blade life, and machine conditions all influence the most suitable blade series.

At KRF Precision, our TCT and Cermet cold saw blades are organized into six series for different cutting applications. Understanding these differences helps buyers compare suitable options, evaluate expected blade life, and provide the technical information needed for an accurate recommendation.

1. Six Series for Different Cutting Applications

Series 1 — Uncoated, Fast-Cutting, Medium Blade Life

Designed for batch cutting of metal bars and tubes where fast cutting and balanced blade life are the main priorities.

Uncoated Cold Circular Saw Blades — Fast-Cutting, Fine-Cutting and Plate-Cutting Applications

Series 2 — Black Coating, Fast Cutting, Extended Blade Life

Designed for batch cutting of metal bars and tubes when high productivity and extended blade life are required.

Black-Coated Cold Circular Saw Blades — Fast Cutting and Extended Blade Life

Series 3 — Uncoated, Fine-Cutting, Relatively Shorter Blade Life

Suitable when a very smooth cut surface is a priority. Blade life is relatively shorter than that of Series 1.

Series 4 — Gold Coating, Difficult-to-Cut Materials

Intended for titanium alloys, high-temperature alloys, and stainless steels of different grades.

Series 5 — Uncoated, Medium Blade Life, Plate Cutting

Designed for steel plate cutting where an uncoated blade is suitable for the application.

Series 6 — Coated, Extended Blade Life, Plate Cutting

Designed for steel plate cutting applications where extended blade life is a key requirement.

How to Choose

Main RequirementSeries to Consider
Fast batch cutting of bars or tubesSeries 1 or 2
Fast cutting with extended blade lifeSeries 2
Very smooth cut surfacesSeries 3
Titanium alloys, high-temperature alloys, or stainless steelSeries 4
Steel plate cutting with medium blade lifeSeries 5
Steel plate cutting with extended blade lifeSeries 6

The most suitable series depends on the actual material, dimensions, machine, and cutting conditions. This table is a starting point for technical selection, not a substitute for application evaluation.

2. What Determines the Blade Price?

At KRF Precision, blade pricing is determined by the following specifications:

  • Raw material grade

  • Whether the blade is coated

  • Blade diameter

  • Tooth count

The series name itself does not determine the unit price. When the raw material grade, coating status, diameter, and tooth count are the same, the unit price is the same across the relevant series.

This allows buyers to select a series according to their cutting requirements without treating the series label itself as a separate pricing factor.

3. Reference Blade Life by Material

Under correct operating conditions and with appropriate saw-machine parameters, the following blade-life figures are our reference estimates for different materials.

Material GradeReference Blade Life
SAE 1040 / 1045 / 105550–70 m²
SAE 414050–60 m²
SAE 4320 / 8617H / 862030–40 m²
SAE 5120 / 513025–35 m²
Stainless steel SAE 304 / 31615–20 m²

These figures are application-dependent reference values, not unconditional guarantees. Actual blade life may vary with material condition, workpiece dimensions, machine rigidity, cutting parameters, and operating practices.

KRF Precision aims to deliver leading blade life within the Chinese industry for comparable blade types. We are confident in the performance of our products, and our coated series are developed to compete with established international brands in cutting performance and service life.

4. Cutting Parameters and Technical Support

Recommended spindle speed, feed rate, and other cutting parameters must match the blade specification and the material being cut.

After an order is confirmed, KRF Precision will prepare a corresponding cutting-parameter table based on the material assigned to each blade specification.

Detailed, specification-specific cutting recommendations are part of our technical know-how and are not routinely disclosed before an order is confirmed.

For an initial evaluation, buyers can share the material grade, workpiece dimensions, machine model, and current cutting conditions. This information helps us assess the application and identify the appropriate blade series.

5. Shipping Terms and Production Lead Time

Order TypeTypical ArrangementTransport
Small batches, e.g. 30 bladesDAP or a similar agreed termAir freight or door-to-door courier
Larger batches, e.g. 200 bladesCIF or a similar agreed termSea freight to the destination port; onward delivery can be arranged separately if agreed

Under these arrangements, import duties, import taxes, and customs-clearance charges are payable by the buyer. The final shipping arrangement is confirmed according to the destination, quantity, and agreed Incoterms.

When the required blades are not in stock, the usual production lead time is approximately 40 days. We prioritize manufacturing consistency and quality control rather than shortening production time at the expense of quality.

6. What to Include in Your Inquiry

To help us recommend a suitable TCT or Cermet cold saw blade series, please provide as many of the following details as possible:

  • Material grade and material type

  • Workpiece shape and dimensions

  • Blade diameter, thickness, bore, and tooth count, if known

  • Saw-machine brand and model

  • Required cutting speed and surface finish

  • Current blade life or the main cutting problem

  • Estimated order quantity

With these details, we can evaluate the application more accurately and discuss the suitable blade series, specifications, and delivery arrangement.

The goal is not simply to select a blade that fits the machine, but to choose a blade that matches your material, production requirements, and expected cutting performance.
